Add Media As Mashup

Using Mashups to add media to a Discussion Post:

1. Open the correct Discussion Forum.

2. Click Create Thread. Screenshot showing the content editor. Turn down the chevrons if you do not see the full toolset. You want Mashups/ Kaltura Media.
If necessary, turn down the chevrons to see all the formatting tools.  Note: if you are adding text, it is a little easier to type that in first.  If you leave your cursor at the end of your last sentence, the media will be added neatly below it.

3. From the dropdown menu, click Mashups > Kaltura Media.

4. The My Media screen will open.

5. Click Add New/ Media Upload.

6. The Upload Media screen will open.  Click Choose a file to upload.

7. Browse your computer.  Select a file and click Open.

8. The upload will begin immediately, and give you a progress bar which also includes the size of the file.  (You should be able to estimate how long the process will take.)  The name of the file will appear top left in the gray bar, and will be populated in the Name field, minus the file extension.

9. When finished and the bar is green, modify the Name, add Description and Tags as needed.  Click Save.

10. The green bar at the top will indicate that your changes have been saved. Click Back to Browse and Embed.

11. The My Media screen will load with your new file added. Click Select.

Now you should be able to click Select.

12. The Create Mashup Item screen will appear with the media item added.  To complete your discussion post, add a Title (required) and Description (optional).  When ready, click Submit. That's all there is to it!

This screen shows the content editor used to create discussion posts, with the uploaded media file attached.
