Blackboard Mobile Documentation

Last updated:  July 30, 2018

Access your UNM Learn courses for interactive learning with the Blackboard app (formerly "Bb Student").

Note: Blackboard changed the name of "Bb Student" to "Blackboard" on July 19, 2017. Blackboard discontinued support of the older Mobile Learn app on August 31, 2017 and will continue to support and update the Blackboard app.

Features and Limitations

For full functionality of UNM Learn, use a supported browser and OS instead of the mobile app.

  • For taking test and quizzes, use the Learn site on a computer or device with a good connection to the Internet (e.g. computer lab with a wired connection, home wifi known to be stable, etc.). Using the Blackboard app for quizzes and tests is not recommended due to the lack of full parity between the mobile and web quizzing functionality.
  • Because UNM uses more advanced technologies than simple HTML pages, in some cases the Blackboard app may not be able to display the content or display it properly. In addition, some features – particularly Flash, Java-based, or QuickTime video – may not work properly on all devices.
  • UNM’s officially supported method for interacting with courses in the LMS is through a supported browser. We are making the mobile interface available so that users who wish to use the Blackboard app to connect to the UNM system may do so.

The Blackboard app was created and is maintained by Blackboard. UNM will enable connectivity to these applications but has no control of their offerings. Some UNM Learn features and tools may not appear or work within the app. The Blackboard app is regularly updated (like any mobile application) and new functionality will be offered as Blackboard improves this service. UNM Learn Support recommends keeping the Blackboard app updated in order to implement all feature improvements and bug fixes.
