Windows 10 - App Installs for Media & Web Conferencing

Microsoft has recently released a new operating system:  Windows 10.  Windows 10 is compatible with/ supported by UNM Learn. However, if you are using the Kaltura Media tools or the Collaborate Web Conferencing system in your class, you may need to install Java and Flash.  They do not come preloaded.  As of Jan. 2015, Kaltura does not work with Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, so installing Mozilla Firefox is also necessary.

How do applications look attempting to run without Java or Flash installed?

  • In Kaltura Media Gallery: Attempting to Upload a file or record using the webcam will result in a blank window with no notifications or error messages
  • Attempting to load Adobe Flash Player

    Symptoms when Java or Flash are missing? Attempting to upload a file or record using the webcam results in a black window that just hangs.

  • Failure to load Adobe Flash Player

    Without Flash installed, you may see an empty screen.  No error messages.
