Program Overview

The Master of Science in Project Management is a 30-credit hour online program designed for a student interested in an advanced career position in project controls, project management, technology project management, program management and/or technology program management. The program meets the exceptional business need in New Mexico, nationally and internationally for career paths. Both Los Alamos National Labs and Sandia National Labs have established paid student internships.

 

Learning Goals

  1. To meet unmet demand for project controllers, project managers, and program managers
  2. To attract exceptional students with engineering, management, science, and social science backgrounds
  3. To provide sufficient technical depth so that graduates are competitive for local, state, and national jobs
  4. To enable faculty and students to tailor programs of study to individual student backgrounds and interests

Admission Process

Those with a bachelor's degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher are invited to apply.

Complete the online application at online.mgt.unm.edu. Be prepared to upload a resume, statement of intent and unofficial transcripts in the online application. There is a test score section that is optional for Fall 2021. Letters of recommendation are not required.

Official transcripts from all non-UNM institutions are sent to apply@unm.edu directly from the institution.

International applicants apply through the Global Education Office at geo.unm.edu.

Admission Deadlines

  • Fall, first-half of the semester, (1H): July 15
  • Fall, second-half of the semester, (2H): September 15
  • Spring 1H: December 15
  • Spring 2H: February 15
  • Summer: May 1

Complete the online application and pay the application fee. Be prepared to upload your resume, statement of intent and unofficial transcript(s).

Statement of Intent

Please write an essay explaining your reasons for seeking an advanced degree in business, as well as your personal qualities and experience that will benefit your professional colleagues in the program. Include any noteworthy achievements or additional information you wish to share with the Admission Committee.

Résumé

Please submit a current résumé detailing your work experience, management experience, and areas of responsibility.

Transcripts

Upload all unofficial transcripts (including from UNM) to the online application. Send one official transcript from each institution attended (except for UNM) for domestic applicants. Send electronic transcripts to apply@unm.edu. Mailed transcripts must arrive enclosed in the original registrar's sealed envelope to the following address:

Domestic applicants with foreign transcripts must have those transcripts evaluated, even if they are in English. This must be a course-by-course evaluation that shows the foreign education level of study in comparison to the U.S. education level of study and the US education equivalent cumulative GPA. We recommend the following credential evaluators. Entrance Exam

The entrance exam is currently waived through Fall 2021 admission cycle.
