Online classes offer tons of flexibility for non-traditional students. Had it not been for online classes I would still be going to school, the ability to work at my own pace within the guidelines of my professors Schedule and Syllabus afforded me the opportunity to take 2 classes each semester. I am a non-traditional student—I am married, I have a full time job, I am raising my grandson and I’m in my 60’s. My proudest, shining moment is that it took me 43 years to get my degree. I took my first college course at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM in the fall of 1979. I didn’t attend college all 43 years there were lots of stops and starts but persistence paid off.  I’m not proud because it took me 43 years, I’m proud because I never gave up. I am excited to finally be a college graduate neither my parents or sibling have higher ed degrees. I do have a daughter with a BA and MA from UNM. Thank you so much. Thank you for giving students the opportunity to achieve their goals by offering online flexible classes. Because of UNM Online Programs I have a degree!
