Online classes offer tons of flexibility for non-traditional students. Had it not been for online classes I would still be going to school. The ability to work at my own pace within the guidelines of my professors' schedule and syllabus afforded me the opportunity to take two classes each semester. I am a non-traditional student—I am married, I have a full-time job, I am raising my grandson, and I’m in my 60’s. My proudest, shining moment is that it took me 43 years to get my degree. I took my first college course at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM in the fall of 1979. Then I didn’t attend college at all for 43 years; there were lots of stops and starts but persistence paid off. I’m not proud because it took me 43 years, I’m proud because I never gave up. I am excited to finally be a college graduate! Neither my parents nor sibling have higher ed degrees. I do have a daughter with a BA and MA from UNM. Thank you so much. Thank you for giving students the opportunity to achieve their goals by offering online flexible classes. Because of UNM Online Programs, I have a degree!
